Review summary

Very much enjoyed the ship. Have previously been on Regal and Sky is a sister ship. We prefer the decor on Sky as it seems brighter (and blue’er). We had the Princess Plus package that included drinks up to $15 each and this covered most cocktails, beers and a decent amount of wines along with gratuity and wi-fi. This was a holiday for us with the destinations being a second consideration and it was perfect. A week away with great food and service along with drinks and entertainment for a reasonable price. 👍

Embarkation

Swift and slick. This despite the fact the we hadn’t realised, being ‘Platinum’ tier we could have used priority check in. To be honest it was pretty quick and easy using the ordinary route.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

All good. Alfredo’s pizzeria was so good we used it three times. MDR’s were all good and we also used The Crown Grill and The Catch By Rudi the latter of which was probably the best meal we’ve ever had at sea. Highly recommend. Vegan options available in both restaurants and the buffet which helps with my wife’s dairy intolerance.

Cabin / Stateroom

Comfortable, clean and modern feeling. Excellent good sized balcony which is not obstructed or overlooked. Bathroom is unusually small and it’s a curtain not a glass screen fronted shower.

Ship tip

If you want to eat in the MDR’s in the evening book early or you won’t get your preferred time or possibly any time slot. We booked the lot on day one after finding there was nothing for that day available.

Ports of call

Copenhagen, Denmark

Ho Ho bus again easy to catch although it involved getting a shuttle and changing buses with the same in reverse on the return leg. We’ve been here before and the little mermaid is tiny and literally covered in tourists. Pleasant places to walk though and good weather made for a nice day.

Oslo, Norway

5 out of 5
Very pretty. Lots of places to visit some of which were free to enter like the sculpture park. All easily accessible by bus.

Kristiansand, Norway

5 out of 5
Beautiful port. Hop on Hop off bus was a great way to see it all with plenty of options to get off and explore.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarked at QE2 terminal. We opted to self disembark at 730am. Leaving the ship was quick and easy with our luggage. Once in the terminal there was a huge queue for the one lift. What the staff at Southampton didn’t tell anyone was that stairs and an escalator are also an option if you can pick up your luggage. Luckily we knew that but it took a while to get past the air bridge to get to a point where we could overtake the queue and make a bolt for the stairs. We’ve used this terminal in the past and compared to others at Southampton it’s starting to feel quite unloved.
