Review summary

We enjoyed an excellent cruise! There were areas that need improvement, but these were not of great significance.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We were on a back-to-back cruise, so we fortunately didn’t have to re-embark.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The MDR was somewhat disappointing. We did enjoy the occasional meal in the MDR with our friends at a table-for-four, but more often chose the Horizon buffet which as usual was very good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We used the fitness centre and enjoyed that. We also visited the art auctions, but again felt that the emphasis on Peter Max detracted from the quality of the experience.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We didn’t attend any of the shows in the Princess Theatre as they weren’t appealing. However, the performers in the Piazza and the various bars were very good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
In general, we felt the service on this cruise was somewhat lacklustre. Some waiters and other ship personnel seemed disinterested, whilst others were prepared to go the extra mile.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We enjoy the layout of the ship, and found it kept clean and well-maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was excellent again. The balcony was a large one and well protected.

Ship tip

Definitely try Skywalkers for the view and nibblies!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was a smooth process as always.

Great review. The Princess cruises I have been on had the same dishes in the buffet for dinner as in the MDR; even lobster. I would often stop at the buffet before dinner to see the choices and even sample some to know what to order in the MDR.

As a couple, we sailed on the Sapphire in 2008 to New Zealand / Australia. Very nice 14 day trip. Met a few people we still stay in contact with. Very nice Ship, Lots of Fun and all of our ports were great. New Zealand looks very much like our home State of Montana....
