7 Night Viking Sagas (Harwich Roundtrip)

Sail date: May 16, 2015

Ship: Ryndam

Cabin type: Inside

Cabin number: 685

Traveled as: Family (older children)

Reviewed: 9 years ago

Review summary

The ship was OK (15-20 years old) but well maintained. The cruise crew was friendly but not as talkative as in other cruises. Managers were professional but not as proactive as in other cruises.

We have problem with our designated cabin. It was also assigned to a cruise crew and we, no the cruise crew member, were relocated to another cabin. We have problems in the new cabin with items that did not work properly (TV remote, A/C and toilet) but that is a separate story.

The towns we visited were very nice. Scenery was amazing.

The shows (singers and dancers) were very good. For the first time in our experience, the music from the orchestra did not overpower the singers (you could actually hear the singers).

The cabin (interior) was larger than in any other ship we have travel with, except for one cruise line. Also the bathroom was larger than usual.

The cruise price were very reasonable. The tours were very expensive. On the other hand, every thing in Norway is expensive.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Unless you were a meat lover, the variety of meals at the Lido cafeteria were no the greatest

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We were traveling with a service dog so wid not attend many onboard activities

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Singers and dancers were very good

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The cabin attendant, and the Digital Workshop Instructors were very good. Singer and dancers were also good

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Old but well maintained ship. Two of the elevators were out of service the whole trip. The lobby or atrium not impressive or practical

Cabin / Stateroom

Larger than usual. Have problems with the remote, A/C and the toilet. Our cabin was also assigned to a crew member and they relocated us (not the crew member) to a new cabin, same category. We feel they should have upgraded us for the problem

Ship tip

Nothing that was strikingly different from other ships, except the lobby was not functional. Other newer ships have beautiful lobbies that are used for a number of functions, i.e. dancing, live music, etc.
