Overall disappointing. And the way the mishap with the oil spill and resulting travel delay was handled is this far awful. As a result, may never go on this line again!

The trivia was abundant and I love it so that was great. Zumba instruction was excellent, but why have it in the tiny piazza area with a slippery, hard floor. Not enough pools for such a huge ship :(

Comedian was funny at times, but a lot of questionable material in his act. Didnt see other shows. Some of the musicians sounded good. The ones in the Wheelhouse Bar were hood, but more mellow than I was looking for.

Our room steward was great... quietly attentive. Waiter was fine, not as good ss those we have had in the past. The guest services staff were great, operating with grace under (a lot of) pressure.
Ship Quality

Did not like the design compared to other ships. Can only navigate through one side of ship. Public area bathrooms hard to find and some super tiny. Not enough pools. Tiny gym especially for this size ship. No bar in the Vista Lounge?! A lot of wasted space on deck 5. Why put the Crown grill right next to a bar...? It was very clean and seemed well maintained though. I would probably not book another cruise on this ship.

It was fine. Very clean. Bed was pretty good. Nice to have a small balcony.

Not as good as other ships like the Ruby. My least favourite princess ship thus far.
Agree. I was on the Royal from Vancouver to San Pedro and have never had such dry, unappetizing dinners in the dining room. When the Lido beats the dining room, something is seriously off. The Princess usually has excellent meals in the dining rooms...not this time.
If pizza and burgers were at the top of your food list, you are sailing with the wrong line.
Maybe try RC or NCL all the food tastes like pizza and burgers.đđ

We've been on the Royal 3 times and enjoyed each time. You didn't like the layout of the ship and the common areas it was hard to find the restrooms. You found the Ruby to be a better ship. The layout of ALL Princess ships is basically the same; some variations. One thing to remember when you read any review of anything that it's one person's opinion!!
So the oil spill and delay (we were on the cruise just prior and it was an oil fire, not spill. Which by the way was handled swiftly and professionally) caused a delay so you are blaming the Royal?? Personally, I would prefer they repair the generator/engine instead of sailing with only the three remaining. Call me crazy but I wouldnât want to be on a ship out in the ocean that wasnât in perfect running order! So sorry you didnât care for your time on the Royal. We, on the other hand, enjoyed our cruise and will be on the same ship in January 2021 for our 50th anniversary.
