Review summary

Overall, we enjoyed our Christmas Caribbean cruise very much and would definitely do it again. Next time, I think I'll bring more gluten-free desserts/snacks onboard with me and we will do more excursions rather than waiting to find them at the pier.

Embarkation

Embarkation was the quick and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

We planned ahead of time to spend more of our time in the restaurants and were happy with that decision. The food in the buffet was plenty and mostly good. However, there were not enough dessert options for people with gluten-free allergies.

International Cafe

This is not a place for those of us with gluten allergies. The only thing they make is gluten free muffins. As I was instructed, I requested two chocolate chip muffins the day before, but when I went back the next day to pick them up no one knew what I was talking about...so I ended up ordering the muffins again. I went back to pick them up the next day and they asked me to wait. It took them 20 minutes to come back as if they had forgotten and tried to quickly make them. When them finally came back and I tasted them they were not even edible. I was disappointed. The muffin tasted more like a breakfast biscuit with chocolate chips in it. Actually, it was worse than that. It was not good at all. Since gluten free batters are a dime a dozen at local grocery stores these days, it is just beyond me why they couldn't make a gluten free muffin that was more pleasing to the palate.

Onboard Activities

Lotus Spa

The Royal Princess is one of only three ships that have The Enclave at the spa. My husband and I did a tour of the spa of the first day and purchased a special package offered for the Enclave for $100pp. We were if it was worth it at first but boy oh boy were we extremely happy with our purchase! The Enclave is FANTASTIC!!! Not enough space here to explain what it involves so I encourage you look it up yourself. The Enclave became our go to place to relax and unwind on a daily basis! Oh how I wish the Enclave was on every Princess ship!

Jogging Track

We loved using the jogging track. It was great!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the dancers and singers as much as one can on a cruise ship but the comedian was NOT good at all. He seemed like an old retired guy who decided to reinvent himself as a comedian. My husband and I left after less than 10 minutes. The most enjoyable performance for us was the ships' rendition of The Voice.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had an extended balcony and enjoyed it as it was larger than other balconies.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was the quickest that we've ever experienced. In fact, the captain made an announcement that they were 30 minutes ahead of schedule.
