Review summary

Overall, it was a huge improvement over our first week. There seemed to be more staff. There was more attention to detail. Communication suffered in a few instances, but was also greatly improved over the first week. The ports of call were generally amazing and there was so much to see and do through the shore excursions offered. Our cabin steward and waiter were excellent and provided dedicated service that I greatly appreciated.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
There was some confusion about whether back to back cruisers needed to take an antigen test and we were held at the checkpoint after a long day in Athens.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The dining was greatly improved over the first week with a far more attentive waiter and dining staff (head waiters seemed absent on week one). This was a huge improvement from the first week when it seemed disorganized and understaffed.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Still a low number of activities, but enough given we were at a different port nearly every day.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Still a low number of shows compared to other cruises I have been on. The dinners were shorter than the first week with more attentive waiters, so it was easier to ensure that we could attend one of the shows before or after dinner.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Overall, it was very good service. We did have some poor communication a few times, including an attempt that took several days to discern if one of our bags could be repaired. It could not be, but Royal provided a new piece of luggage for us to replace it. There was a lot of confusion about whether we needed to test for Covid once more from our first to our second week.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Seemed very smooth, and we were able to schedule a bus transfer to the rail station for a nominal fee.
