Review summary

I just got off the ship today. I did not come onto this ship a week ago with super high expections about activities or entertainment because it is an older ship without all of the modern amenities. Therefore, that has nothing to do with my rating. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the entertainment and how well kept the pools/spas facilities were. I actually dont even like the mega ships because of the crowds despite the extra amenities. The service was also exceptional and the bartenders were some of the friendliest and most creative that I've ever met at sea or otherwise. The staff held my attention and everyone was very prompt as well as courteous. Everything was also impeccably well maintained. The adults only pool area was incredible and the hot tubs were actually hot and not luke warm like they have been on other ships I've been on. I also loved the activities and audience participation for so many of the shows. I took off one star because the beds were so hard that it felt like those bunk beds in the inside family cabins; I couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep more than 2 hrs at a time and I was constantly tossing and turning because I couldn't find a good position in those rock hard beds. They were only slightly better than sleeping on the floor and I felt like I was on the Flintstones sleeping on them lol that is a huge negative towards relaxing on your Cruise. My statetoom attendant was fabulous but I dreaded going to the room and going to sleep because the bed was just that uncomfortable (never had a bad bed on any of the Carnival & NCL ships ive been on except an upper bunk bed in an interior room). The other star taken off is because the MDR was absolutely awful imho. I tried the MDR for every meal and I think I only had one entree at lunch that I really enjoyed out of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was well cooked and well presented but was practically flavorless. Even the desserts had no flavor and I went to the buffet for dinner instead a few times so I didn't have to wait for mediocre or bad food at least. In fact, I think that the buffet actually tasted slightly better than the MDR. I then paid for the specialty dining a couple of times just to have some good meals. I wish I could be more positive because I really loved the design, staff and entertainment but those are HUGE downsides to me. I don't expect 5 star amenties unless I'm on a luxury cruise line but I do expect the food to be good more often than not without having to pay extra $ alot and to have a comfortable statetoom to sleep in. I have had both of those experiences on Carnival and Norwegian for the same price or less.

I did not check on that because I've never had that problem before after 6 cruises!

Thanks for the info. Btw, did you check if they could provide you with one of those bed toppers memory foam? Don't recall which cruise line, but we mentioned it to our Stewart, and he had that placed on our bed, it helped. Thanks again and bon voyage.
