Review summary

This was our first experience of a smaller ship, all our previous cruises were on Voyager class, and we loved the Rhapsody. There was a cosier community feel to it, having a lot of entertainment in the Centrum was much better than scattered around various bars. Our ocean view cabin was a good size, very clean and comfortable. The reason why I have not given five stars was breakfast in the main dining room on our first morning. Service was poor and the standard of food was not good, the cooked food on the buffet was disgraceful, overcooked and looking as if it had been there too long. We were disappointed as we had always enjoyed our mdr breakfast. From then on we had breakfast in the Windjammer, lots of selection and all very fresh. Dinner was excellent every night. We saw three of the shows, Piano Man, Pure Country and Ballroom Fever, all very good. No evidence of the ship being tired, they were constantly cleaning on the outside when we were in port. When we were at sea, there was always room wherever you went, both out on deck and in the Windjammer for lunch. Dinner was excellent every night.

This was my first time on a smaller ship and while I enjoyed the Rhapsody, I prefer the bigger ships. My only issue was the food in general. I felt in the the windjammer most of it was overcooked and almost always cold. The dining room wasn't bad, but I wasn't impressed with the selections.

My wife and i will be sailing the Rhapsody in April. That's about the size ship i like to sail. We did sail the Grandeur a couple of years back and had a great time.

I too enjoy the 'smaller' ships. Glad you had a mostly good cruise. The first days MDR breakfast is surprising to hear, as it usually gets lots of compliments. I guess there has to be a bad day sometimes - and you were there for the bad day. Sorry! Glad all else went well for you.
