Review summary

This was my first cruise on Virgin Voyages and prior to embarkation, I was apprehensive that it would be 'too modern' for my taste; I was very wrong! I thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and the excursion to Cradle Mountain and would recommend and book both again. I am looking forward to a longer cruise on Virgin Voyages.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The embarkation was organized and efficient

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food and drink were good; though I only dined in The Galley and no specialty restaurants due to the short cruise duration. The Galley concept is good with several places to choose from that have a smaller feel rather than a large buffet. That said, even on a short itinerary, I felt that I grew tired of the limited options and a buffet may have presented more options.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I felt the entertainment and event options outside of these shows was rather limited.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I loved both shows, "Persephone" and the "Miss Behave" show. Both were immersive and interactive. Being an adults-only ship allowed for a little more leeway for grown-up themes.

Children's Programs

No children are allowed on Virgin Voyages.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As expected for cruise vacations, the staff and service were wonderful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Having launched in May 2023, the resilient Lady was almost brand new; she looked clean, modern, and was as easy to navigate as most other similar ships.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I booked a Guarantee inside cabin and was assigned cabin 11242M. The cabin was in great shape; was clean and no damage from past guests. The layout was tighter than I expected, but it was perfectly fine as I was traveling solo. The shower in the bathroom was bigger than expected. Overall, the room was great for the short duration and for my needs.

Ports of call

Melbourne, Australia

4 out of 5
A smaller port, but embarkation and debarkation were very organized, which helped ease any congestion.

Burnie, Tasmania, Australia

5 out of 5
Mainly a commercial port, you must take a [free] shuttle from the port to the city center. Upon arrival, the mayor of Burnie even stopped by to say welcome! I took an excursion to Cradle Mountain, which I thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was smooth and efficient. Sailors choose a debark time from the Virgin Voyages app the night prior, which seemed to help allow for a more streamlined debark process.
