Review summary

First leg of a maiden repositioning voyage. Great impressions, no kids, no announcements, This cruise line is hip and happening and geared to a younger market.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy. Luggage also arrived at our cabin shortly after arrival.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
No main dining room, no buffets. Eat at The Galley (like a cafeteria with minimal choice) or book one of the 6 specialty restaurants (included in your fare, not extra). Pizza is also available, and bento boxes are available to go.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pool and hot tub and jacuzzi pool on Deck 15. Gym is great and fitness classes are available and included in your fare, but pre book these once onboard. There’s also games, bridge club, book club, trivia and karaoke.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Happenjngs Team are the core entertainment group and have some great productions with singing, dancing and acrobatics. Their shows and Scarlet Night are repeated on every voyage. Guest musicians, comedians and entertainers were of a high standard. .

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Lots of staff, welcoming and friendly. Still learning some aspects of service, but generally very good.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship is new, so it’s clean and swanky. It’s minimalist in decor (which I like). The main auditorium (Red Room) is great for performances, but the areas throughout the ship for musicians and bands were a bit lacking in size and seating and there were no dance floors.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved my room! Good size, bed comfy, adequate storage, small fridge in room, fresh water replenished daily. The full length mirror is good and air con is great. The double curtains are good (sheer and blockout). I loved the room controls (lighting, curtains, etc) via the iPad in room. The bathroom is small but functional - the shower is a good size with a lovely waterproof glass door! The shower was always hot and instant with great pressure and had a rain shower as well as a hand held stick. The balcony was a reasonable size with 2 seats and a small table, but the hammock was the BEST!!

Ports of call

Port Said, Egypt

5 out of 5
In this interesting city for 2 days. Explored on both days - a day trip to Cairo to visit the Pyramids of Giza. (Well worth it.) and also undertook a walking tour of Port Said on the second day.

Safaga (Luxor), Egypt

5 out of 5
Long day trip to the Valley of the Kings. Well worth it, but a convoy of busses were late back to the port! Lucky the ships tour was running late, and so the ship’s departure was delayed.

Santorini, Greece

5 out of 5
Loved Santorini, but avoid the cable cars if you can. The wait to descend to get back to the ship was horrendous! All ships anchor and tender at this port.

Rhodes, Greece

5 out of 5
Loved this beautiful Greek Island. So much to see here, the medieval old town, Palace of the Grand Master and the pretty harbour and town of Lindos with its ancient Acropolis.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Organised and easy. We are continuing on for the second leg of the voyage.
