Review summary

Absolutely amazing experience that everyone should get a chance at I have. Truly the trip of a lifetime!!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Arrived at our designated embarkation time and it couldn’t have been easier. Port staff verified our boarding pass, passport and vaccination status very quick and efficiently. We were on board just minutes later!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Overall quality was up to standard, a few items were a miss. Ate in the MDR multiple nights and for one breakfast, Windjammer for many breakfasts and lunches, and Giovanni’s table for one dinner.

Quill & Compass

5 out of 5

Awesome English pub feel with live music and good times to be had! Play some darts, stand around a pub table chatting with friends, or grab a seat and enjoy the live music!!

Cascades Dining Room

3 out of 5

Service was very slow the first 4 nights but improved towards the end of the cruise. This was a return to service cruise which might have played a role in that. “My Time Dining” reservations were basically worthless the first 4 nights as we waited in line 30+ minutes past our reservation time.

Colony Club

5 out of 5

Cozy lounge environment that was great for all sorts of activities!

Champagne Bar

4 out of 5

Comfortable spot to sit and watch the world sail by!

Windjammer Marketplace

4 out of 5

Overall food was good, some items weren’t up to par. Amount of options was pretty good especially for a smaller ship.

Giovanni's Table

5 out of 5

Service and food were outstanding as we expected it would be. Highly recommend Giovanni’s Table!!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Radiance is a smaller, older ship but we really enjoyed it! Cruise Director and staff did a great job at providing fun activities on sea days that got the guests engaged and having fun.

Whirlpools

5 out of 5

We really enjoyed a 2 hour (I know, too long) soak after a long day of walking around Alaska. Used the hot tubs on the main pool deck despite the 45°F and drizzle (honestly, it was great!)

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Comedy show was pretty good and the Cruise Director & staff put on some pretty good parties (Captain Marek did a couple live preferences that were AWESOME!!) but I’ll be honest, the production show “Piano Man”, was really not good. The opening number was good but it quickly went down hill. The show didn’t make sense and felt disjointed, the singers did their best but some of the numbers were just out of their wheel house. We’re not theater snobs but felt very disappointed with that show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Ship was slightly understaffed as this was a return to service cruise but they did an amazing job as always!! The crew always goes above and beyond to make your experience the best possible and this was no exception.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Radiance is older (2001) but still a great ship!! Crew was hard at work on maintenance in some areas which required closing some stairs on deck, etc but being a return to service cruise we expected some “roughness around the edges”. Crew did a good job not to completely close any guest areas, you just had to take a different route a few times.

Ship tip

Deck 7 or 8 is perfectly placed to be just about anywhere on the ship in just a few minutes. Also, make sure you check out the Colony Club and Quill & Compass, both great venues.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
We had some fairly significant delays on disembarkation. Our “estimated time” was 9:15 but it was much closer to 10:00 before we were off the ship. Not an issue as out flight wasn’t until 1:00 pm but if you had planned to be off first thing you might have had problems. Even those participating in the “self assist” (carrying all their luggage off) were delayed by around 30 minutes.
