Review summary

Overall... the experience was OK. We expected a better level of service. We thought we would enjoy on-board entertainment and food more. But the service quality really brings down our ratings.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Chops steakhouse was great... we were surprised to like the Mexican restaurant as well. But\, overall the food was so-so. Desserts were inedible at times. We would NOT go Royal Caribbean again for the food.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
We didn't like the main events. Items we really liked e.g. classical guitar\, classical strings\, big band dance) were choppy - with only 30 to 45 minutes at a time.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
We had several problems. A couple of examples follow. We had at least one each day. A message about 'routine maintenance will require access to your room tomorrow' was delivered the day AFTER maintenance was completed. Excursion schedules went awry. Phone calls at odd times about matters that had been dealt with. Explanation of prepaid gratuities wrong the first time.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Other than a couple of exceptions\, public areas were dated even with recent 'refresh'. Colony Club (lounge/dance/reception space) was amazing. Main dining room was great... so were the specialty restaurants.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
We liked our Jr. Suite. Tasteful\, nice and comfortable. Balcony was great.

Pros: Views\, dinner at Chops\, Juneau

Cons: Icy Strait and Skagway are ridiculous tourist creations; service on board
