Wow ! I crossed on The world's only Liner. This is what our ancestors did before jets. I loved it and the seven days felt more like a quick weekend. I recommend doing this. I had heard Cunard had relaxed the dress code and That was not the experice on my cruise. People wore jackets every night and Tuxedos or at least coat and tie on formal night. I felt bad for the crew who seemed tired and unhappy but always professional. Ours was the 400th crossing special cruise for the Queen Mary 2 and I really loved it... Id do it again in a heart beat but I'd have to bring my own food.
Embarkation

Pretty much walk thru. Very strange sailing out of Brooklyn but no traffic on a Friday morning. Woke up at our Times Square Crowne Plaza and easily taxied it to Brooklyn
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
They served deer at most dinners and it only got worse from there. The food was the only negative to the whole cruise, but it was so prevalent that I would seriously consider bringing my own powered supplements if I take this crossing again. I had a hard time finding anything good at any meal. Lots of cheap beef and chicken. Then they'd throw some fish in a bunch of dishes. I am a picky eater but in bad situations I'm always able to survive on mashed potatoes , rice, burgers and pizza. They didn't offer any alternatives I could stomach or bare.
Onboard Activities

Loved the lectures during the day and trivia. The casino was small but spirited.
Entertainment

The live music was excellent. The production show was very good. The on-board orchestra was everywhere on the ship. The Queens lounge was very cool like a scene right out of a black and white movie. In fact it reminded me of the Breakers in Palm Beach. Excellent karaoke and the house band "Clique" was as good as any I've heard
Service and Staff

The crew was very tired and a little stand-offish and withdrawn. But they were always professional and there were a few that stood out. I have a feeling that unlike Royal Caribbean where they are trained to smile the Cunard crew are not trained to prioritize the smile.
Ship Quality

Yes, it's a little choppy and confusing but it is a liner and not a cruise ship. But ai really liked this ship
Cabin / Stateroom

We had an accessible cabin on the back of the ship.. it was home indeed
Ship tip
Explore the ship asap with a map... there were several venues I didn't discover till half way thru or even the last night.
I was going to do this sailing, but I wanted more time in Europe. Once I find a good itinerary I'll book the Qn Mary 2 for a Transatlantic crossing. Thanks for the insight on the food. I decided after my first cruise to only sail in balconies; so I'll try the sheltered one on QM2.
Thanks so much for your review! I'm not a picky eater, so maybe all the food will be acceptable. I plan to eat in the buffet mostly all the time. I booked several afternoons in the Verandah and that other specialty restaurant inside the Kings Court. I'm glad you stated that it's worth repeating. So I guess I didn't waste any money booking 4 cruises basically back-to-back on QM2š. I personally think the British are more straight faced than other nationalities, which could count for the staff's demeanor, regardless of where their home country is. At least that's how I viewed them when I was in the UK for a month. At least it appears you enjoyed everything else. My cabin is on deck 3 in one of those refitted Solo cabins that look like hotel rooms with the two huge ocean view windows. Cunard keeps sending me upgrade offers and I ain't budging. š Those are the best cabins! Thanks again for your review, and I'm glad I'm packing appropriate clothing š.
