Review summary

Getting on the ship was a nightmare as we stood in line for over 5 hrs. (no water, no food, no bathrooms). And, we missed a day of cruising. The worst part was lack of communication and organization. If we had been told what was going on, (union worker, no access to the manifest system, non working ramp), it would have made a world of difference to our attitude and opinion of Cunard. And, a PA system could have solved so many problems for the 2 young Cunard employees trying to reassure the over 2K crowd. Once on board, the world opened up to a truly wonderful experience. The ship is gorgeous, our suite was comfortable and beautifully appointed. The service we received thoughout our voyage was unsurpassed. Some of the excursion were dissapointing simply because the weather would not permit them. Can't control the weather so, no big issue here. As this was our first cruise ever, the initial impression was not favorable. This has changed and we are excited to see a future cruising. Thank you!

Our TV remote was pretty filthy with embedded debris. I had to clean and disinfect it before considering using. You might consider getting sleeves for the remotes as they are electronic and difficult to clean.

Ship tip

The ship is HUGE! Realize that you have many dining options - if you don't want to sit to be served formally, the buffet offers excellent choices. Be cautions of the movies offered - the one we had for the last day was really depressing, had hoped for something uplifting or a nature film (which we thought "whale" was.

Thank you for your review.👍 If I recall the cruise prior to yours had a cruise member die of a heart attack by the time he arrived to the hospital and that ship didn't leave with the next group of passengers until even later like after midnight. Unfortunately, a large number of passengers are up age and QM2 makes emergency stops or have delays to airlift passengers or crew and it can be a total mess on embarkation day. Bringing a few small bags of peanuts/chips and water would help depending on what the guidelines are. After reading so many stories like yours, on my embarkation day I will expect the worse and hope for the best. And those remote controls are filthy even if you can't see 🙈 the dirt. Simple plastic bag works wonders. Glad to hear you ultimately enjoyed your cruise!
