Review summary

My sister and I chose the QM2 because we wanted to give ourselves a civilized, jet-lag-free way to travel to London.  The cruise exceeded our expectations.  The ship was spotless, service was impeccable and the food was delicious.  We are in our early/mid sixties and other passengers seemed a bit older.  Having said that, we only saw 2 motorized scooters.  This is not a party ship, and we were grateful for that.  I loved the wonderful library, the comfortable nooks on board where one could cozily read, sip tea or enjoy a good conversation.  Had a blast at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts improv workshop, and really enjoyed the alternative dining restaurants.  Would recommend saving your money and skipping Todd English.  Just not worth the extra price.  All in all, a wonderful experience and I look forward to doing it again.

Limited counter space in the bathroom, but we brought small hanging shoe bags and used those to store our sundries on the door.

Ship tip

The lectures were terrific.

We stayed in Brooklyn at the NU Hotel. They referred us to a Brooklyn-based car service to take us to the dock. The driver was great (he drives guest there a lot). Cost was reasonable - about $15 plus tip.

I took the QE2 on a cruise to nowhere and a group of us had lots of fun for a couple of days.  This was quite awhile ago. I have never been on the Queen Mary.
