Review summary

This really is one of the best ways to see a breadth of what Hawaii has to offer - setup your luggage on the first day and you're settled for a week. We were pretty underwhelmed by the food and staff performance, particularly compared to other cruise lines, but it was worth dealing with on what was overall a great vacation. The greet staff, cleaning staff and some of the wait staff definitely left quite a bit to be desired. I would recommend paying the extra $20/head for the premium dining - it was a clear step up from the standard fare. The reservation process is a bit of a nightmare, though, so don't expect to just set a time and walk right into your seat! The boat is spectacular - new, clean and with plenty of amenities. Bring a nice camera, the photo ops from the deck when sailing by the islands are out of this world.

Ports of call

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

1 out of 5
The port is commercialized and pretty soulless, definitely the low-point on the itinerary. Rent a car or take a tour and get out of there ASAP!

Nawiliwili, Kauai

5 out of 5
A clear highlight of the tour. Poipu beach is a nice area, Princeville is worth a look, but the highlight is without a doubt the Na Pali coastline. Two recommended options to see this properly - take a helicopter tour (Blue Hawaiian were great) or hike the Kalalau Trail from Ke'e Beach. The hike is only two miles into the first beach and it was the best part of our 12 days in Hawaii.
Don't Miss: Na Pali coastline

Rent a car and drive the road to Hana... hold onto your hats, it's a narrow roller-coaster of a ride, but it's very scenic.
Don't Miss: Haleakala National Park and its black sand beaches & blow holes
