Pride of Hawaii

7 Night Hawaii (Honolulu Roundtrip)

Sail date: August 14, 2006

Ship: Pride of Hawaii

Cabin type: Inside

Traveled as: Family (older children)

Review summary

The ship was nice and spacious, however, the food, service, and management didn't come near to what I was expecting. In addition, the boat rocked much more than any other cruise i have been on. There were limited activities and too many bars such as the beer bar, the wiskey bar, the wine bar, and the martini bar. Also, the average beer bottle was around $60 in the dining room!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
As a vegitarian, there were very limited choices. Even for non-vegitarians, the menu was quite repetitious. The restaurants didn't seat many and the wait to get in for dinner was long. However, some restaurants had space, but not enough crew members to serve you. Dinner took us, at average, 3 hours, because of the service. Out of 2000 passengers, only 80 people could be seated, especially at the Italian cuisine. Out of 7 days, we didn't even get a chance to have 1 reservation, for this reason. Also, on the last day of our cruising experience, the breakfast was horrible. They didnt fill up the stations after it became empty. As for all the other days, the breakfast line, especially for the omlet, was much longer than it should have been.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The shows that were put on were magnificent and you could tell that the actors/actresses dedicated a lot of time to the songs and dances. The comedian could have been better, however, he was pretty good.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
My children sat in their cabin watching television whenever they were bored because there was nothing to do besides go in the pool. There were to many bars opposed to activity centers.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
The ship was understaffed and as told by an unknown source, they were understaffed by 200 crew members. Ther service took much longer than it should have and the waitor dropped at least one plate 2 days out of the 3 we went to that specific restaurant.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was nicely decorated and it made you into the " hawaiian spirit."

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
The staterooms were spacious and confortable, however, there was no lotion, conditioner, nor a bar of soap. The bed sheets were stained and they did not replace them. Everytime the staff came into to clean our room, they just made our beds, however, neglected to change the stained sheets. Therefore, the house keeping was bad, as well. The fruits or candy in the cabin was not replaced, either. In addition, when my wife and I went to our cabin, our beds were seperated. It was not until the fourth day of the 7 days of the cruise that the beds were combined, after extensive complaints.

Don't Miss: The river ride where you got to see various tropical life and hula dancing. The helicopter ride was good, as well.

Pros: The ship's decorations.

Cons: The food, service, and management.
