Our second cruise on Pride of America

Sail Date: March 15, 2016

Reviewed: 8 months ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

Five years ago we did the cruise sailing from and returning to Honolulu.  This time we opted to take the cruise from San Francisco.  Some hiccups this time. One day delay in departure which required a late afternoon scramble for lodging in San Francisco. Pricy but pleasant time in the city unexpectedly.  NCL said we could make claims for costs due to the delay.  We shall see how that comes out. The officers and crew bent over backwards to make the cruise as comfortable as possible despite areas still inaccessible due to contractors still working on the ship as it crossed to Hawaii. Someone must have complained loudly about that and the noise from the work because we were informed that we have 50% of what we paid this time towards a future cruise on the line.  Not a refund but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Lots of elderly aboard getting the most out of life, some with one foot in the grave. They didn't look as old since the last time :)

Cabin / Stateroom
Our balcony was a lot smaller than last time as we were above the life boats. Still it was nice. Our cabin steward ended his contract when reaching Hawaii and we didn't see much of the replacement. We were in stateroom before she got around to turning down the beds so no chocolates for us.

Tip

We had been eating one meal a day with a smoothie at night so were not ready for the three meals a day. Eat in the dining room for portion control. Plenty of people were on a see food diet. They saw it and ate it. We ended up skipping lots of meals due to being too full. Entertainment was great.
