7 Night Hawaii (Honolulu Roundtrip)
Sail Date: May 20, 2007
Ship: Pride of Aloha
Cabin Type: Balcony
Traveled As: Couple
Reviewed: 7 years ago
The Pride of Aloha was a clean ship with a crew that generally seems to be working hard at what they are doing, they just don't do it as well as others. We'd read a number of poor reviews before we went so our expectations were somewhat lower than for the type of service for our previous cruises. It was about as we expected.

Took a rest day here. Couldn't tell you a thing.

The port town is not much to see so you have to get out. We rented a car again and drove up to Haleakala. It's wuite a drive but we enjoyed it immensely. Avoiding all the bicyclists on the way down was pretty exciting. They were everywhere. Maui is by far the most "commercial" of the islands so far. If you enjoy that aspect of it, this is for you. If you're not for the crowds and the very American like beach atmosphere, Maui's not for you. We didn't make the road to Hana. After all the hairpin turns on the way up Haleakala we'd had plenty of hairpin turning.
Don't Miss: The Old Lahaina Luau in Lahaina was worth it.

Drove up on our own to Volcanoe National Park. Worth it, yes. Would I do it again, not sure.
Don't Miss: Took a helicopter ride over the Volcano. Awesome...a 10!

Enjoyed Kauai the most. It seemed to be the least developed from a commercial standpoint, maybe the most like the Hawaii I expected.
Don't Miss: Waimea Canyon was all we expected and worth the drive.
