Review summary

After reading the other reviews, we had average expectations for this cruise. We have cruised over 15 times on this and other...better...cruise lines. My husband and I and our teenage kids were equally impressed! From beginning to end, our trip was top-notch....read on for specifics!

seeing live flowing lava was GREAT!! there were a few injuries however; it is a difficult hike over uneven lava rocks. And you must stay up to see the ship pass the volcano at night...it was awesome.

we went snorkeling on the zodiac raft...fun but cold if you are from a warm climate like we are. bring wetsuits if you have them.

Hakeakela crater, Maui Ocean center & Io valley in 2 days....the crater is huge and we had a rare clear day so we could see it all. It is a lovely island, but the crater was somewhat anticlimactic after the lava. Go to the ocean center if you can't snorkel or dive...it is better to get into the water.

beautiful.....we did the bus ride the first day which was our longest day, 2nd day we did 4x4 hike which was really a 4 wheel drive van, not an "off road" experience but was still a nice nature walk.

Pros: crowd management! you would never guess there were 2000 passengers.

Cons: staterooms were noisy....not well sound-insulated
