Pride of Aloha

7 Night Hawaii (Honolulu Roundtrip)

Sail date: July 16, 2006

Ship: Pride of Aloha

Cabin type: Oceanview

Traveled as: Large Group

Review summary

The overall service was not up to our expectations. Food service at dinner was over 2 hrs; room steward didn't take down our room 3x in the evenings; cleanliness and smell of bathrooms were not good; ship temperature was too cold. Overall a good cruise (what can you say bad about Hawaii?) and the best embarkation/disembarkation. We literally walked on and off the boat!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
As all cruises, food was great! Hard to book at specialty restaurants with a group. Better reserve before you get on the boat. 3/5 restaurants had a price to reserve.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Missed half of the shows due to long dining hours; however the shows we did watch were good. Loved the crafts. Kids really enjoyed the Hawaiian embassador - Kiko!

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Nothing to report "above and beyond". Never knew our cabin stewards name; was not greeted or welcomed when we came on board; dining staff slow and understaffed as service was severely lacking. Dining took over 2 hrs and missed the first 3 night shows due to this. Not acceptable! Kids would fall asleep at the table due to lack of service.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship ok. Restaurants were nice. Atrium alittle small, nothing grand. Overall cleanliness could have been improved.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Room too cold; room not turned down 3x in the evening. Overall ok.

Ports of call

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

Nothing to report. Should have recommendations of beaches on the daily newsletter we receive. Ended up at the beach by the pier. Not great. Dirty water, sandy beach and nothing spectacular.
Don't Miss: Don't know.

Kahului, Maui

5 out of 5
Always loved Maui - it is the best! Since we know the island, rented a van and toured ourselves. Iao valley and love Kihei/Wailea area. Lahaina was too crowded and traffic.
Don't Miss: Paradise luau - loved Makena!

Hilo, Hawaii

5 out of 5
Volcano Nat'l park and Thurston lava tube. Tour alittle long, but very informative. Lunch at VNP was wonderful!
Don't Miss: VNP - loved it!

Nawiliwili, Kauai

5 out of 5
Waimea Canyon! Awesome site, but a long 5 hr journey! Never made it to the other side of the island though.
Don't Miss: Waimea canyon

Pros: The itinerary

Cons: The service and people not friendly
