Review summary

Far too many unruly kids! Way too much walking, not enough lifts. Public areas too small for 5000. No tables in pool area. Food could be better.

Embarkation

As I have a bad back & knee, I used a wheelchair to go through the boarding process. With it mostly digital now, it was so easy. Hubby sailed through with me lol

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main Dining Room food was great. We had my time dining. Different meals each night. Jaimie Oliver’s was amazing! Didn’t do other specialty restaurants as we’ve done them many times. Much more expensive now too. The Windjammer was very ordinary. Only had dinner there once. Breakfast was just ok. The Solarium bistro was ok but the same thing every day.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Not a lot to do which was disappointing. The North Star was good. Couldn’t do iFly due to back issues. The flow rider looked fun. We enjoyed a few trivia games.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Trivia games were fun. The shoes weren’t as good as on previous cruises. The adult only comedian was fun! The Live, Love, Legs show was great too. Not much else for our interests. We loved the band in the Music Hall. Pulso. They were awesome! Saw them most days/nights.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The staff were great. Nelson, our barman in the Music Hall, was awesome! Our room steward Denmark, was also lovely. The bar staff in the Solarium were good too. It was busy every day there but they did well. Godfrey in our main dining room was lovely.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship is looking a little tired but it was overall clean. The public toilets were always being cleaned! Couldn’t fault them!! The pool deck only had sun lounges, under cover, in the shade! No tables to just sit at. Too much smoking area. Had to walk through it to go anywhere. We had to spend our days in the Solarium. We would’ve liked to sit out on pool deck. Not enough lifts. Other ships have 3 across the ship. Just far too much walking for me with a bad back. Never had that before. Promenade not long enough & too crowded.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabins are very narrow compared to what we’ve had before. Plus the balcony wasn’t so deep. It was all Very clean though. The bed was quite hard. We couldn’t get a mattress topper but our steward added a duvet under the bottom sheet which did help. We did take our own pillows, thank goodness!

Ship tip

LOTS of walking. If there’s mobility issues, maybe not a good idea. Only 2 lots of lifts instead of the usual 3…… fwd & aft of ship. Toilets are at the lifts. So you have to walk a long way to get anywhere

Ports of call

Noumea, New Caledonia

2 out of 5
Been there many times. Not much there. We went there an extra day due to Vila being closed. The extra day was a Sunday, it was all closed. We only got off to buy gifts at the terminal

Mystery Island, Vanuatu

4 out of 5
Love MI even though we’ve been there before. We just chilled out having a swim. It was lovely

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
It moved pretty quick but the way they did it was different. We had to walk up to the two70 bar only to go outside & walk back the way we came to get off. We could have just got off at midship & walked out. It was all very hard with a terribly bad back. If we’d known, I’d have requested a wheelchair

Appreciate your detailed feedback. Spring Break cruising brings additional challenges. Good to know that there are only two banks of elevators. Sorry you were disappointed.

If you plan on trying cruising again, perhaps a smaller ship during a less busy time of year (avoid holidays, spring break, etc.) may be to your liking.

It sounds like you are more suited for a land vacation there is always a lot of walking when you are on a cruise
