Review summary

The ship itself is lovely but it just seems to be missing something. New cruisers seemed overawed by it but for long time cruisers like myself the RCI fleet no longer has that special feeling. Nearly all activities are aimed at selling you something and the whole activity team seemed under utilised. You used to always see them around the ship getting involved with passengers but not now. Didn't even lay eyes on the Cruise director. Sadly the old days of cruising are gone forever. I don't like the dining rooms on this ship at all. Give me the grand old ones anytime. I doubt I will be back on a RCI ship as I find them all gimmicky and kind of soulless. Even though the staff try their best they seem to not have their heart in it either

What did you expect when you booked a large ship. Personally I love the bigger ships but they are not for everyone. I do however agree with you on the selling pitch. That is a turn off. Smaller ships bore me. I could care less about quality of food, eating isn't the highlight of a cruise. Hopefully you will find a great ship that meets your needs.

I agree. The Ovation hasn't got the same atmosphere that the smaller ships have. I preferred Radiance of the Seas even though it's alot older it's more like a Cruise ship and not a 10 story building....

Stick to the smaller ships with a longer itinerary and don't go in the summer.
