First cruise was not wonderful!

Sail Date: September 01, 2012

Room Type: Oceanview

We sailed to Alaska and were very unhappy. I was so looking forward to this cruise for the past 5 years. We were celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary and saved for 5 years. The ship was not at all as to what I expected. The stateroom was small and old with holes in the pillows on the sofa. Not what we thought it would be. Would no travel on this ship again.

Pros: The food was very good

Cons: Staff was not friendly

Recommends Oosterdam? No.

Ship Quality
Decor poor\, worn furniture. Public area were clean and updated but not the rooms.
Food and Dining
The one postive thing on the ship was the food in the dining room which was excellent as was the staff. Lots of options to chose from.
Cabin / Stateroom
The size was small. I thought if I paid a little bit more the amenities would be better they were not. Stateroom was small and the furniture needed to be updated.
Service and Staff
Staff in the dining room was excellent. Laundry staff and stateroom staff were unfriendly and had to asked repeatly for assistance.
