Review summary

The ship was clean and beautifully decorated. Signs at each elevator really helped us get oriented. We felt very well informed by overhead announcements and updates about what to expect upon disembarking or taking tender boats to the shore.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
This was our second cruise, and the first where we had "as you wish" seating for dinner. We had read reviews that indicated there was a wait for dinner in the main dining room, but we found that we could make dinner reservations a couple of days in advance, and we were always seated right away. In some parts of the dining room the air conditioning made it a bit chilly, so bringing along a sweater really helped. Food selection was great, service generally outstanding, and the best part was meeting new people at dinner every evening. On the Lido deck, the variety of foods offered for breakfast and lunch was outstanding - lots of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as delicious desserts and everything in between. The servers were happy and friendly, and someone was always available to help if a guest needed assistance.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the ship's cast of singers and dancers- the first night their performance was impressive with amazing stage sets and costumes. We would have preferred even more musical shows (although magic and comedy and juggling was OK). There were several performers who entertained daily (a wonderful violin quartet, a singer-guitar player, a jazz trio, a rock band, and a piano bar musician). While some of the rock music was a bit too loud for our ears, we very much enjoyed dancing at the Ocean Bar to the jazz band every evening before dinner. Games like trivia, name that tune, golf challenge, and the Marriage Game made for a lot of fun, and we even won some of the games!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
In general, the staff were friendly and eager to please. I was particularly impressed by some of the servers in the Lido who seemed very happy and cheerful. Front desk staff were efficient and able to deal with pretty much any issue.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We really felt at home on the ship once we got to know the layout. Pretty much all the food was in the aft end and the entertainment was in the forward end. The public bathrooms were immaculate and offered small cloth towels as an alternative to paper products. Beautiful fresh flower arrangements were strategically placed around the ship. We loved the pool - not at all crowded and the water was nice and warm.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
On our first night we had a problem with crowding because of the way the sofa bed was set up (there were 3 of us sharing a cabin). The next morning, our wonderful room steward found a solution to the problem and we were very satisfied from that point forward. The shower was great and the bed was sooo comfortable!

Pros: Great food, new friends, heavenly pool, friendly service, variety of entertainment

Cons: Smoking was allowed in the Casino
