Oasis of the Seas

5 Night Canada (Cape Liberty Roundtrip)

Sail date: May 28, 2023

Ship: Oasis of the Seas

Cabin number: GTY

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The best part of the cruise was the quality time with our friend. The ship is too big for us as seniors and Canada was too cold to really enjoy the amenities on the ship.

Embarkation

Embarkation was quick and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food choices at the main dining room were limited, portions were small, quality was just acceptable. The Windjammer buffet was a weird mix of food that didn't really go together. We definately noticed a post COVID difference. We purchased the deluxe drink package. Although we felt it was worth it, the bartenders must be under orders to regulate the amount of alcohol in each drink. Everything was measured with a shot glass including straight drinks and liquors. Asking for doubles mostly fell on deaf ears. My wife got exactly 1 shot of Baileys with a glass of ice. I got 3/8" of Drambuie neat!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
It was moderately cold in this trip so we didn't get the opportunity to use the pools or hot tubs

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We saw the comedy show, it was good. We also saw Cats it was very good!

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our wait staff was exceptional! Kadek and Babington saw to our every need for dining.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is gorgeous! Lots to see and do. Everything other than the quick restaurants were clean and maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
In one word small! We've gone backwards with cabin and shower sizes I assume to get 5000 people on board.

Ship tip

Be prepared to wait alot. Dining, elevators, and shows all had lines.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

Great parking!

Saint John, New Brunswick

We did the trolley tour, it was ok

Halifax, Nova Scotia

We did the Titanic tour. It was supposed to be 3 hours and was shortened to 2 hours due to a port arrival delay and customs delay. We were rushed through the Maritime museum (limited to 30 minutes) and the cemetery. There was supposed to be a third stop which was totally eliminated. This excursion was our main reason for this cruise to Canada.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Absolutely amazing how they can get 5000 people off a ship in 2 hours!
