Oasis of the Seas

Review summary

This ship is great when 80% full or less. Also, I wish they would use a Florida port that can handle the number of people that have to board in a relatively short period.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Cape Liberty port is the worst in the nation. The roads are filled with potholes, the line of cars took over 1 hour to get to the cruise port. For the size ship of Oasis, this port cannot handle. A small ship, yes, but not over 5,000 people trying to board.

Ship tip

When the ship is full (we were 90% full), it is difficult to get an elevator. They should have built at least 2-4 more elevators to help the flow of people. Also, there were long lines to get into the Windjammer. Ship was not designed to move that number of people effectively.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

Already talked about this - worst port anywhere.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

Always perfect!

Disembarkation

Went very smoothly (probably because we were in a suite). Others did not fare as well with a very long line on the ship to get off.

They do have a Florida port that they sail out from which is the Miami port that can definitely hold that magnitude of people that fills up the ship. That is the port I will be leaving from in November. I'm from N.Y. so I have to make that trip but I'm looking forward to trying out this amazing ship that many are taking about. Thanks for your review. Glad you had fun!!!

Cape Liberty is great because you don't have to fly to Florida. Easy to drop off baggage with porters and parking right next to the terminal. Love having an Oasis class ship available and not just Anthem year round.

I find this port good for us northeast cruisers. Florida doesn’t have pot holes because they don’t have winter weather. The amount of elevators is deliberate. Ships are very well designed.
