Review summary

If you ever wanted to see Alaska, this is the way to do it. Take a lot of pictures, enjoy every moment and splurge on yourself!! It was so enjoyable that we plan to do this trip again on Norwegian!!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We got there early so we beat the crowd which made embarking a breeze. Very smooth for us.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We're not picky eaters so the food was good. The buffet was a bit of a disappointment only because some food was cold that should have been hot but the seated restaurants were wonderful so we did more of that. The buffet was always crowded and difficult to find a seat. The sit-down restaurants always had immediate seating and great service!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Very much enjoyed the entertainment that we went to or participated in. Game shows, art auction, trivia, comedian show and the ship's entertainment group were wonderful!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Loved Fred Bevel, comedian, and all the entertainmemt that we saw! Dan, Cruise Director, made everything fun and exciting with his positive energy!!!

Children's Programs

No children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was terrific!! Our room was tended to twice a day and towel animals every evening were left on the bed. Waitstaff was really good. Most had a great sense of humor and made sure that we had everything we needed and wanted. A lot of fun.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was spotless, very modern and easy to get around once you remembered where everything was. We went out on the top deck when we were in Glacier Bay and the view was unbelievably beautiful! I was very pleased with the size of the ship and the ease in getting around it.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Having never been on a cruise before, I was expecting a very tight space but was pleasantly surprised at how spacious it was and comfortable! Plenty of storage space for our clothes, luggage fits under the bed, and places for bathroom items as well! The balcony was amazing and made the room even bigger. Balcony was much bigger than I expected and wonderful to sit on when just watching the beautiful scenery. The bed was very comfortable, pillows were great, couch was large and convenient for sitting inside and watching out over the balcony. Only one viable plug in the room so bring something to plug in with additional outlets and USB ports for phone charging. Forgot mine in the cabin, so be sure to put a reminder out at the end of the cruise!! Lol

Ship tip

One piece of advice I'd give is if you are doing an Alaskan tour, pack warm clothes for the windy days that you want to go out on the balcony. Another is to ring a camera with a zoom feature as zooming on cell phones isn't the same when whales are jumping out of the water. Bring comfy shoes for walking around the ship too. Very casual and comfortable aboard the Norwegian Sun.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We decided to just carry our own luggage off the ship so we could get through customs more quickly. Great decision because disembarking was a breeze and quick. Great experience for us!
