Review summary

The cruise was not what we had expected especially with no stops in the Antarctic, nor getting close enough to shore to photograph anything. Should have had a high-powered, long-range lens in order to see anything. A couple of the shows were good and the rest no-so-good.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
The pier terminal was chaotic due to the fact that 2 ships were boarding at the SAME time, plus the computers went down, plus even though there were to be staggered starts everybody ended up in the terminal at the same time. Not enough seating or accessibility for those who needed assistance. We ended up boarding 2 hours past our original time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining rooms were good but very crowded. The specialty restaurants ran $100+ for 2 people. The buffet started out good, but about 5 days in, people refused to leave their tables after eating creating a non-seating situation. This was VERY bad and was not addressed by the crew.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The activities were over-crowded. We were not able to enjoy the pool, the fitness center, etc. The only activity we attended were the art auctions.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Shows were good.

Children's Programs

no chlidren

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Room steward did a great job.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
This was the most confusing ship layout on which I have sailed. Common areas were clean and well-maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Small; had to crawl on bed to look out the window. No chair in the cabin - only a stool. Room steward did a good job cleaning morning and night.

Ports of call

Buenos Aires, Argentina

4 out of 5
We did a BJs excursion in BA. The meeting point kept getting changed so that was stressful. Finally ended up getting picked up at hotel - although we went to the port first. Not good communication. The van was small and the commentary was difficult to understand. It ended up being more of a shopping tour instead of a sightseeing tour.

Montevideo, Uruguay

3 out of 5
No excursion.

Punta Arenas, Chile

3 out of 5
Took a walk into town. No excursion.

Ushuaia, Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina

3 out of 5
We booked a double-decker bus tour which was pretty good. The commentary was easy to understand.

CRUISE ADMIRALTY BAY, ANTARCTICA

2 out of 5
There was no stop. We sailed from Ushuaia for 5 days straight to Port Stanley. It was very foggy so could not see much.

Cruise Elephant Island, Shetland Islands

2 out of 5
The fog was very heavy and very little wildlife was spotted - pretty much none.

Port Stanley, Falkland Islands

2 out of 5
4 ships were in port at same time. We did our own excursion to try to find some penguins of which we had seen none. Saw 2 or 3 penguins in Penguin Cove. Disappointing. It was difficult to do any shopping because of the huge number of tourists in port that day.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Same issues as getting on the ship - too many people; had to search for luggage; had to fight to get a taxi, etc. Chaotic.
