Review summary

the food was horrible, even in the restaurants that required an additional surchage (ranging anywhere between $15-$25 per person). the ONLY decent food on the entire cruise besides fresh fruit and boxed-ceral was served at Cagney's Steakhouse (whre the cover charge was $25 per person). if you think that you have paid your cruise fee, and the rest of your trip (at least on the ship) is "all-inclusice", boy are you ever in for a surprise! this cruise-line nickel and dime's you to death - even as far as having the outright gall to charge $4.50 per glass for fresh-squeezed orange juice in lieu of the watered-down frozen orange juice that they normally serve; or charging for soda - even at the rate of $2.00 (and sometimes more, depending upon location on the ship) for children. entertainment on this ship concists of them pushing alcoholic beverages at you from every angle (at bar prices, no less) and getting you to spend exhorbitant funds on gambling. the whole cruise was based upon these two items. the staff is trained to constantly try to sell you alcholic beverages to the point where it gets uncomfortable to even try to have a meal - yet, most of the balance of service at meal-time (as well as other times) is either in-attentive, or surly attitudes, such as having your food virtually thrown at you! while some of the staff onboard tjhis ship were certainly nice, the predominat characteristic was that they appearedto be annoyed should you ask anything of them. the overall cleanliness of this ship was poor - even after they had allegedly re-furbished this ship (as they tout). repairs were being done to this ship constantly as we were sailing. the pool was ridiculously under-sized for the amount of passengers on this ship, lounge chairs were more valuable than currency (unless your objective was to reserve them circa 5 AM by throwing your towel on it). the pool was corroded, and was missing tiles in all four corners - and one of my children actually got scraped in this area. this was supposed to be a "family atmosphere", yet the was a large contingent of "young adults" that got drunk and ram roughshod throughtout the pool vicinity (as well as others) including smoking and eating while in the hot tubs on a daily basis. there was absolutely no curtailment of their behavior whatsoever from any staff member. all in all, bermuda itself was a wonderful place to visit, and we highly recommend it....just not on this particular cruise line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

i believe that the aforementioned comments speak for themselves

Entertainment

1 out of 5
if you like to gamble, play bingo, bid on art auctions, or shop flea-market style in the grand galleria, this is the place for you!

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
for the little kids, the day-care center and the staff were great and attentice to the kids' needs. the 10-14 year olds were in a dead-zone, however; not much for them to do.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
as previously mentioned, some staff members were as nice as could be. however, they were most certainly in the minority, as most staff members were surly in disposition, and didn't care that they inconvenienced you in order to carry out their task-of-the-moment. example - my children were playing games in the arcade (which, by the way are mostly in foreign languages, NOT english), and right in the middle of their games (that we pay for, not gratis) were shooed away by staff members looking to open the machines to ascertain certain statistics. waht, they couldn't wait 2 minutes until a kid finishes playing?!?!?

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
some of the public areas - such as the bathrooms - were filthy, and smelled like an overflowed septic tank. the size of the ship and its staterooms are inadequate for the numbers of passengers that are booked: for example - a stateroom that is supposed to be for 4 passengers consisted of two single beds, a matress on the floor, plus a fold-out "bunk bed" that is too small for an adult, and specifically states that it is not safe for to be used by children.

Cabin / Stateroom

too cramped, mold in shower, bring your own iron (because if you're lucky enough to have the ship supply one for you, they take it back immediately) and the supplied blow-dryer burns your hand well before it has a chance to dry your hair. even our television malfunctioned.

Pros: bermuda!!!

Cons: too much to mention

Recommends Norwegian Spirit? No.
