Review summary

Inaugural sailing out of New York to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada from October 6-10, 2022. Great cruise on a beautiful new ship. Lots of fun activities, although some are normally at an upcharge. The food, service and staff were excellent. Loved our balcony cabin. The wi-fi wasn't the greatest, and you need to book specialty restaurants, entertainment and activities, immediately upon embarkation (if you can't prior), because they book up fast. Overall, wonderful cruise ship and definitely would recommend. See more specific details in star rating section.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We got to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal early and embarkation went very smooth and was very organized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was great and lots of complimentary options! We ate at the main dining rooms, Indulge Food Hall, Seaside Cafe, The Local Bar and Grill and the specialty restaurant Onda by Scarpetta and the food was always excellent. I can't give this lower than 5 stars because the food was so good, but but the restaurants and buffet areas are smaller than normal, so crowding could be an issue when sailing at full capacity. Also, the straws are made of paper and dissolve very fast which made it hard when drinking a frozen drink. Also wish there were more pasta options at the Italian Restaurant.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
- Prima Speedway - lots of fun, would recommend even for the $15, views from the speedway are amazing, doubles go karts are a little slower than singles but enjoyed both of them - The Drop - dry slide that leaves your stomach behind and is very fast, glad I tried it but once was enough - The Rush - dry slide that you can race another person down the second slide, but this is a more leisurely ride - The Wave - water slide that's a lot of fun, has a somewhat steep slide at the beginning that gives momentum to go back up "the wave" and then back down, loved this - Tee Time - enjoyed this interactive miniature golf experience and would probably do this for $10 once just to try - The Bull's Eye - This was fun to throw darts, but if this costs money I don't think I would do it, although I did hear others have fun with it - Galaxy Pavilion - lots to do in here, didn't get to try the Escape Room unfortunately because it was booked, liked some of the interactive games, but got nauseous when had to wear goggles - The Stadium - fun games like shuffle board and ping pong that are complimentary - Pools - only went in the pool at fwd on Deck 17 and the hot tub in same area, I was the only one in them, and the water was warm for a colder itinerary, however I could see where the lack of pools could be a problem in the Caribbean

Entertainment

4 out of 5
- Summer: The Donna Summer Musical - the three lead singers were amazing - The Noise Boys - the beat boxers were amazing, tap dancers were very talented, but it seemed to get too loud (no pun intended) sometime - The Price is Right game show - loved this, condensed version of the TV game show, be warned that if you are at the show, you could get called to "come on down", host and announcer were entertaining Highly recommend booking shows immediately upon boarding the ship, if not before

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service and staff was excellent. They were also very friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was beautiful and clean. Some people didn't like the layout, but the only issue I could see was the venues were smaller, which could cause crowding and waiting if the ship was at capacity.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Stateroom seemed to be your typical balcony size on a cruise ship. The decor was beautiful. 11710 is the second balcony from the front on the starboard side and it was very quiet. We could feel the movement a little more than mid-ship, but would stay in this cabin again. The balcony was a typical size, but the furniture was made of wicker and padded, and very comfortable. There is plenty of room under the beds for your luggage, etc. The bathroom seemed bigger than most cruise ships, especially the sink and shower, which was huge compared to most non-suite staterooms on a cruise ship.

Ship tip

Book entertainment, activities and specialty dining immediately after boarding the ship. Cannot stress this enough as many people missed shows, or couldn't participate in activities or go to the specialty restaurant of choice because it was already booked.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth disembarkation. We didn't hear any announcements, so we went down to Deck 6 and saw a line and just followed everyone.
