Review summary

I went on a 7 day sail, out of New York, during the month of November. During departure, it was defintely cold outside, so bring a sweater if you can. Leaving out of new york it's defintely a plus for the NCL Jewel. Service was OK, employees are definitely not happy to be working there. The food was sub par compared to other cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean. Also bringing a suit/dressing up is optional. Typically other cruise lines make you dress up 2 days on a 7 day trip. I would do NCL Jewel again, but not in the cold months.

Hi CaptainQ, now that you mention it, I did! I tried the Premium Japanese Hibachi restaurant. It is a must have if you go to this cruise. As for the everyday, everywhere food, not sure if I went on an off week but nothing wow'd me. On top of that, juices were hard to find in the morning, and the water machines would not work half the time. For an activity you do at least 6 times a day on a cruise: eating! those things should not happen.

Thanks for the review. You mentioned the food was sub-par. Did you try any of the specialty restaurants? If so, what did you think of them?
