Norwegian Encore

Great Stirrup Cay Round Trip

Sail date: November 21, 2019

Ship: Norwegian Encore

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: 12164

Review summary

We found that the Norwegian Encore has something for everyone of all ages. The entertainment does not focus on just one generation. The food venues offer such a variety of food options including vegetarian and vegan. The extra family activities that this ship has is just amazing! The casino was just the right size and offered a variety of games and slots. Even though the ship is very large it did not seem like a maze to walk from one end to the other, very easy to navigate.

Went smoothly, will be nicer when the new terminal is finished.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Did not eat at a specialty restaurant. Staff was attentive to dining needs. Manhattan Room was lovely. Multiple food venues to choose from.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We found the family entertainment (laser tag, speedway and Galaxy Pavilion) great additions for something new to do. Tip for laser tag, best time to do it is at night when all the full effects are available. There are tiles on the wall that will have images that come alive that you can shoot. This is just for fun as they do not give you points. TIP: When you do the laser tag and speedway, closed toed shoes are required, note there is no place to set your flip flops or a tote bag. Best to wear your shoes there and bring nothing with you. These activities do have an extra cost to them.

Entertainment

The show Choir of Man was great, especially if you enjoy hearing good harmony singing. The Beatles were spot on. The DJ's on the pool deck had the sound level perfect!

Children's Programs

We did not have children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Never had to ask twice for anything. Staff always had a smile and always had something pleasant to say.

Ship Quality

Smelled new :) Very organized and spacious, well thought out. Very much like the Norwegian Escape.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Loved the contemporary decor. Balcony was perfect for breakfast in your room. The room seemed a little small compared to other cruise lines. Lots of storage nooks and several items, such as carry on luggage fit under the bed. Note there is no electrical outlet in the bathroom, you will find the hairdryer under the vanity in the bedroom.

Ship tip

Once onboard if you wish to make any dining, entertainment or shore excursion reservations we found that the TV in your stateroom did not appear to be hardwired and we experienced errors while trying to make them. We found the wall screens by the elevators on deck 6 and going directly to Guest Services and the Shore Excursion desk to be the best options.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Busy metropolitan city, traffic is hectic in the morning. Leave early to make your embarkation.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

We did not do an excursion, however, you can get snorkel gear and snorkel right off the beach. The reef is in the growing process, however, there was a variety of fish. There were several places that you could stop to get lunch or a drink.
