Review summary

I do not think I have ever waited on lines for so long. If you are going on this cruise, be prepared to do this. While it is great to have so many amazing opportunities at your fingertips such as multiple water slides, a ropes course and plenty of other new things, don't expect to have unlimited access. When we wanted to do the ropes course, we had to wake up really early to the first ones online, otherwise we would have wasted the rest of our day waiting online. When you want to go to dinner, we totally needed a reservation every night. It is nice that there are so many complementary options of where you can eat though because it means that the setting never gets boring (although the food does get a little boring). The theater is very nice onboard as well, although I wish there were more than like two times I was in and that there were more variety types of shows like on a traditional, smaller cruise ship. While this entire review might seem bad, the ship overall really is nice. The buffet area and all the common spaces really are very modern and beautifully done, and this ship is probably no different than any other large ship (btw- the crew does not become that personal either). We really did have an amazing experience, but do know this because it will make your expectations more realistic. Take a look at our overall experience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7momJhjAIc

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food wasn't bad, but it did get a little boring after a while.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5

Entertainment

3 out of 5
While shows like Rock of Ages were really good and very well done, there were few other major entertainment things to see.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The crew wasn't bad, but because of the size of the ship it was not personal.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is really, really nice and big! Everything is very well done, although some things like the Waterfront are a little overrated.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was large and visually appealing. The only complaints we had were that in order to turn the electricity on, you had to put your key card in the wall.

Ship tip

Tip: If you want no lines on the pool deck for the water slides and an open pool, spend one of your port days onboard when most people are off the ship. One of the best days was that day because we had the ship to ourselves during the day, and then we saw a great Second City performance that night!!

One reason we stay away from the mega ships is crowds and waiting. It's of no interest to us... we're on vacation.

Sounds like you would be happier on a smaller ship.

I absolutely agree with your tip. On our journey on the Breakaway, we had the good fortune to have Port Canaveral as one of our stops. Having been to Florida and its beaches/theme parks many times over the years, we took the opportunity to enjoy a far less crowded ship.
