Review summary

I thought it would of been nice before school started to take my son on a cruise and spend some quality time together before he started high school. We both love to swim and always stay somewhere that has a pool. Unfortunately we were not able to spend time together in the pool area on the cruise because one pool was for adults only and the other was for kids only which consisted of toddlers so he did not have a pool to go in and sadly I didn't either as there was only one little pool to accommodate thousands. There was no space or room to swim. This defeated the purpose of spending quality time together considering the pool area was a hot spot and a big deal to us who would of known. However the worst part was that they put us on the 9th floor I am over 50 years old and go to bed early. I was in disbelief every night when i went to bed as it was absolutely impossible to sleep due to the extremely loud music playing directly below us on the 8th floor. I don't understand and it doesn't make sense how they could do this to someone and not tell them. They could either offer the rooms maybe $50 cheaper letting guests know they will not be able to sleep or have quiet until after 2 am or offer this floor to those that might be part of the 8th floor entertainment and not mind staying up late. Sadly, I was never able to get one night sleep as by the time it stopped I was too restless. This being said our plans each day were ruined because I was too tired to be able to do anything and head to sleep during the day. To spend $3,000 for a cruise and never be able to sleep is unacceptable. Nobody should be put on that floor without at least being told about the music playing to all hours of the morning. I was in tears by the end of the cruise as this ruined it entirely I need my sleep. This was so unfair and so disappointing. When I mentioned it to someone they said we can give you a $200 credit well that was nice though wasn't going to make up for the $3000 spent and wasted.

wow I usually am towards the top going on the aft on my next cruise and unless I have my door to the hall open and the balcony door open it don't hear anything outside the room. and I can't understand people who have a bad time on a cruise I mean you all most have to try having a bad time in order to have a bad time on a ship

Cruising May not be for you. I've been on several ships and pools are often crowded (more for waterplay than actual swimming). If you do want to try cruising on the Breakaway again pick something on deck 5, it's cheaper and very quiet because it is separate from the public areas and traffic.

You should find a ship that cater to the older sleepy people cause most things mentioned is not what most cruises is all about! Research or stay home! Just that simple

Go on NCL website.....it should be better to research on there or just get in contact with NCL & they could help you from there... Good luck

I did but that doesn't answer my question or tell me about the nose levels on the ship.

Always research your deck plan

Hi Morgan, what cabin did you stay in? I'm cruising next year with my family and we are on the 8th floor but or rooms are close to the front of the ship.

terry115    9 years ago

they have deck plans on line or on this site for room placement to get the best room for you. The pools are always the hot spot during the day time you can't swim just stand. Next time take time to research before you go so you don't have to complain. Its your fault for not researching you cruise

I always research and choose my room because of problems such as yours. The pools are alway busy. Sorry for your disappointment, but cruising is my favorite vacation.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy yourself but it sounds like you passed up a great chance for quality time with your son by worrying about what was wrong instead of looking for what was good. Can't sleep because of the noise? Why not play a board game or take a walk on deck together? Or go to a show. There's so much to do on a ship but it's up to you to make it fun for you.

the deck plans for 7 show the casino and restaurants on the Breakaway.

dede1116    9 years ago

thus is why I researched the deck plan and chose deck 7 which is in between 2 stateroom floors. no noise from the clubs n no noise from the lido deck.

nitehawk41    9 years ago

what was your room#..Front or back of ship?

queengabi25    9 years ago

Sorry for your bad experience, but they didn't have to offer you anything. It is your responsibility to research before you book. The layout of the ship is there for you. Obviously the boat can accommodate 2000+ people. Who would ever think they would be able to lap swim? Cruising is not meant for you apparently.
