Review summary

This was my first cruise, so I have nothing to compare it to. That being said, based on this experience, I probably won’t cruise again. The ship was very nice and clean, and our mid-ship balcony cabin was bigger than I thought it would be. The problem I had was with the lack of staff...the waiting in line for our included drinks was ridiculous. No matter where we were in the ship, there was ALWAYS a wait. It was frustrating. The pool area is way too small for the size of the ship and it was a race to get to the pool area early to get deck chairs. Not relaxing at all. I mostly felt like I spent a lot of our week trying to stay one step ahead. The food was really good and all the dining areas were clean and mostly well staffed.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

So glad to read these reviews and advice. I have also heard from others about tipping a little bit more and to have a fun positive attitude. Things happen, so my expectations for our first cruise this coming August will be positive. (Try anyway lol)

There are over 4000 other passengers on the ship, yes you will have lines and have to wait. Try going to dinner when it's not rush hour, when the dining rooms first open. Find a bar that isn't too busy and like others said tip a little extra and you should have no problem. Also, you get what you give. A simple Hello, Thank you, etc goes a long way with crew members. Try a smaller ship and don't give up on cruising. It's one of the best ways to vacation!

We were on the Bliss the first week of January and if you start off by tipping well at a bar you don’t need to wait a long time for a drink.. they remember what you drink and your name...even though you pay gratuities it is best to tip also🥂🍺🍻🥃🍸🤑

I can understand these frustrations but part of cruising is managing expectations and realizing there are 3,000-4,000 other people wanting the same amazing vacation you want. We will be going on the Bliss in December out of NYC for a 12 day cruise. This will be our 7th cruise with NCL. Don't base "cruising" in general on one experience. Maybe you have found you don't care for the big ships. Maybe give a smaller ship a try. We have done the sky twice, the gem once and the getaway three times. Not everyone is cut out to like the big ships. The gem and sky were smaller. We LOVE the getaway! It's not as big as the Bliss but larger then the gem and sky. Don't let one bad trip ruin a great and affordable way to not only travel the world but get away and disconnect from the bustle of everyday life. I hope you will give another ship a try as they each have their own "feel" to them.
