Review summary

The cruise was very festive, fun, and family friendly. It catered to families and the holiday season. It was fun to see all the matching Christmas pajamas and T shirts! Loved the huge Christmas tree, decorations, and the gingerbread houses in the windjammer!!

Embarkation

I don’t understand why we picked a time to check in. Thousands had our same time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Some food was really good other food wasn’t. I liked the breads and the chocolate chip bran muffin. We didn’t drink anything besides water and Lemonade. We didn’t eat at a specialty restaurant.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Disappointed we couldn’t take our 16 month granddaughter in the pools because she wasn’t potty trained. I watched her in the little splash pad where an adult had to be present.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We went to every evening show in the Royal Theater. I felt like I was in Branson, Missouri at their shows. It was nice they were family friendly. I enjoyed the ice skating show and the dancing show the best.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Our 8 year old granddaughter enjoyed the children’s club room.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Very impressed with our main room dining room waiters, Anthony and Emerson. Loved Ricardo in the Windjammer. He entertained our 16 month old in her high chair. He would see us and bring her a chocolate milk with a straw. Not at all impressed with the customer service staff and I spoke to at least 3 during the cruise.

Ship Quality

Did not like the open stairs to the Casino!!! It made the 5th level Promamade area smell horribly of smoke. The ship was clean. Just a bad rating because of the smoke (which we also smelled off our balcony in our stateroom).

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
First time I paid the extra money for a balcony stateroom. I was excited to think I would enjoy sitting out on the balcony reading my book. Not only did we smell cigarette smoke we smelled cigar smoke. Our steward said we had to actually see someone smoking before we called security. I yelled several times from the balcony for people to stop smoking! I asked our steward if he could smell smoke in the room next door to us because that is where it seemed to come from. ALSO, WHEN I BOOKED WITH AMERICAN AIRLINES CRUISE I WAS GIVEN THE RIIM NUMBERS 6655 and 6654 SO WE COULD BE ACROSS FROM EACH OTHER. RC customer service blamed it on AA and since I’ve been home and talked to AA they blamed the room change on RC.

Ship tip

Before you said on any ship make sure you get the room you paid for!

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

My husband visited this port to take our 8 year old granddaughter on a snorkeling trip.

Disembarkation

I was impressed how orderly it was. Completely different from the zoo when we arrived.
