Beautiful ship, comfortable room, efficient / friendly steward and dining servers. However, elevators were slow, the safety muster station drill was chaotic, tender waiting time was excessive, and had to order orange juice (breakfast buffet) for $.
The excursions were relaxing and pleasant (low activity level). However massive waiting lines put a damper on the pleasurable experience. More time at Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica would have been appreciated. Service was impeccable.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Moved smoothly with pre-printed documents.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
With the exception of "soupy" rice pudding with little cinnamon, Dining Room Food was delicious. Unfortunately, had to order orange juice from the bar for the breakfast buffet.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
With the exception of the frequent "low" weight scale battery, the fitness center was comprehensive.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
"Adult" Comedian was funny (no swear words) and "Dreamscape" was entertaining. In addition, the musicians performing as we walk through the ship was melodious and pleasant.
Children's Programs
We did not bring our grandchildren with us on this cruise.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Reysan, our room steward, was efficient, approachable, and ensured our ice bucket was filled. Paris and James, our dining room waiter and his assistant, worked well, together. each was personable and professional. Guest Services provided an extension cord for her CPAP machine.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
This ship was beautiful, and well designed. The atrium through the middle of the ship was fabulous. Common areas were ALWAYS clean and well-maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Our room was spacious and Reysan ensured it was cleaned, frequently. The pillows and comforter were soft, but the mattress was harder than we're used to.
Ship tip
Eat in the dining room, in lieu of the buffet, for breakfast if you want complimentary orange juice.
City Tour by Cozumel Trolley, which was a Marriott Bonvoy excursion rather than MSC, was relaxing and informative. The "Tequila Sampling" portion at the end of the tour (Don Tequila) was palette-pleasing.
We did the Grand Cayman Icons - Turtles, Hell, & Seven Mile Beach (through Marriott Bonvoy rather than MSC). We wanted to spend more time at Turtles, rather than the Beach. However, a domineering tourist shortened the time at Turtles. Also, due to extreme tender chaos, we almost missed this excursion, even though we secured an early tender ticket.
We did the Taste of Jamaica Farm Cookout excursion (through Marriott Bonvoy rather than MSC). I got to prepare the Jerk Chicken for grilling. While lunch was prepared the guide showed us the numerous plant that have medical benefits. In addition, we sampled bananas (including red bananas, mango, avocado (which was much more tasty than avocados in Arizona). In addition to the Jerk Chicken, the side dishes were delicious. A few more hours in Jamaica would have allowed us to explore the area near the ship.
Ocean Cay in the Bahamas, was a beautiful island with warm temperatures and cool, refreshing breezes. However, the large number of visitors put a damper on the experience. The waiting lines at the BBQ were TOO LONG!
