Review summary

MSC did an amazing job and I give them a 5. The ship is gorgeous and the staff is amazing.

Embarkation

The whole process took about an hour and a half until we were on the ship. Have your health questionnaire completed prior to getting to the pier to make the first stop in the embarkation go quickly. They will give you the stickers there to take over for your specimen. We then went and had our COVID-19 test. It was a really quick and easy process and then we sat in a waiting room for about 45 minutes for our results. This was the longest we waited in the whole embarkation process. After they give you your results it’s on to the boarding process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The main dining was amazing every night. It took a little while but it was the 1st sailing in 20 months so the new staff was trying to learn the systems. I’m sure this is going to get better with time. The buffet however had the same foods every day. Again this was the 1st sailing and we were at about 50% capacity so I’m sure they did cut back. We usually eat buffet for breakfast and lunch and then main dining for dinner but by day 2 we were eating main dining for all three. Since it was a short cruise we never had the chance to try the specialty dining.

Onboard Activities

The casino, bars, smoking lounge and the Horizon pool area were vaccinated only areas. This was okay with us because we are all vaccinated. If these are the things you enjoy and you’re not vaccinated you probably don’t want to book at this time. The theme parties at night were at the Horizon pool area so the unvaccinated adults were not even able to enjoy them. The casino is a non smoking area now so most will be happy with that. We saw two shows and they were both amazing. The hot tubs were never very crowded and we were able to grab one whenever we wanted. The best waitstaff we found was at the Horizon bar. They were amazing

Service and Staff

The staff was great and were all very happy to see us come onboard. If you are looking for the best of the best head on back to the Horizon bar and say hello to JoJo and Jaheel. They will take very good care of you!!!!

The way the ship is made these balconies are quite a bit bigger than the other balconies on this ship and there is no difference in the price. If you’re looking for a little more room try to get one of the cabins in the turns. The cabin itself is standard size and was comfortable. If you’re looking for the hair dryer it is hidden in the drawer.

Ship tip

Right now patience is key. Remember things are constantly changing with covid and the cruise industry is having to make changes daily. So at anytime something can and probably will come up.

Love the Meraviglia! Yes, the "turn" cabins are the larger balcony cabins. Our cabin 14086 (had it before and have again on our September 25th sailing) is facing forward. Other turn cabins are facing "aft". So, if you like to see where you've been rather than where you're going, these cabins may be for you. We like to be facing the direction that we're going in. "To each their own!" Our room is next to the "Panoramic Lift" but that's not been a problem....we haven't heard any noise at all. Anyway, the Meraviglia is a beautiful ship with many great features and amenities. Thanks for sharing and rekindling our memories!
