Review summary

Disclaimer: THIS IS AT LEAST A GOOD STORY TO READ (you might even laugh a bit... or eventually cry if you have already been a victim of their scam) Choose a company where you can find what you paid for... Advertised a cruise to the Bahamas and went to Mexico without warning the passengers despite knowing it well ahead. No e-mail or phone call even if you purchased the tickets straight from the company! No warning or information on check in!! Sold tickets to "Bahamas" to customers THE SAME DAY OF DEPARTURE knowing they would go to Mexico... There were even people who flew from Mexico to Miami to go to the Bahamas only to go back to Mexico again instead. Passengers would only find a strategically last-minute note on their rooms about an itinerary change and a “spectacular” 100$ compensation to use onboard so they could then threaten everyone not to leave the boat as they could lose all their ticket's money if they did. This happened only so MSC cruises could afford more days at sea and spare money in port charges (nevermind the disrespect to the passengers). Total rip-off... I could call them Italian mafia if I didn't have good and honest friends from Italy so I might stay away from the country's stigma. I would clearly recommend staying away from this company as there are numerous options available elsewhere. The boat is not that big when compared to the ones available at PortMiami. And don’t even care about the led panel on the ceiling… it’s a crap. Important NOTE: if you don't believe this story just scroll through all comments and look for sudden and unproperly advertised additional days at sea by this company (you just don't get what you paid for so they can make more money... and that’s why rates seem so cheap when compared to other [honest] companies)

I actually liked Miami... just don't think they deserve the extra points for a city they don't deserve to belong

My friend and I am planning on traveling aboard this ship. Should we cancel or go It will be our first cruise ever. So we are scare both ways. Should we go or should we stay?

The same happened to us in November. Our cruise was supposed to visit ocean cay, one of the things that attracted us to the holiday but we ended up going to Jamaica instead. Not what we had signed up for! We to got the $100 on board spend but after having a rubbish cruise generally, this was just another thing to add to the long list of things to be annoyed about! That was my 1st and only MSC cruise that's for sure. People who rate them obviously aren't used to anything better!

Having one bad experience does not make the entire ship bad I’ve always travelled with MSC and love it, not everyone will and to each his own People will always find something to complain about they do on every cruise line it’s a matter of finding what you like and what works for you and sticking to it. I’m not a Carnival fan does that mean it’s all bad absolutely not, I’ve been on Meraviglia and had a fantastic time and would do it again!!

Read your cruise contract. The cruise line can change the itinerary and you might not like the change, but that is how it goes. We have been in rough weather and a hurricane and had our port of call changed twice and finally stayed out at sea for a cruise to nowhere. We still had a great cruise. It's how you deal with life.

That does stink that you had that experience, however I highly doubt they changed the itinerary for the purpose of adding more sea days to your trip. My best guess is they changed the itinerary due to the delayed opening of Ocean Cay, and they decided to give you a new, farther port to compensate for the extra day. It is a shame that happened and I’d be upset as well, but I highly doubt it was with malicious intent.

Most people would take Cozumel over the Bahamas any day. Sounds like you came out better.
