Review summary

Very international. Loved the culture... food, Italian Opera and classical music. The room was awesome. I loved the dance parties and the ports of call as well as the price! $644 pp for 8 nights during the peak of summer. However, it was way too crowded and the guests were rude, they would just push each other out of the way in crowded elevators in hallways and at meals. We had a hard time finding tables to eat, were crammed in a corner for dinner. Had to move our chairs to let people through. We got charged $12.50 every time they cleaned our room... 3 times each day!!! Announcements in 5 languages were annoying. Some of the service was great, some very rude. One of the cruise directors told my mother very rudely to get out of the way. I was so shocked!!! MSC has a lot to learn before the make it in the American market. We expect more here. Carnival and Royal Caribbean are way better!

As everyone stated it's $12.50 pp per day for all of your staff , we has excellent service in the Black Crab so we gave them cash on top of that, well if you read the reviews that's the majority of complaints is dinner service,

When we sailed on the Divina we thought the ship was fantastic but also had to endure rudeness and chaos everywhere

When I was checking out, they told me gratuity was covered in my original invoice, but my final bill was FULL of service charges including room cleaning

I've checked the msc website and can't find anywhere to prepay the gratuity. can anyone tell me if you've found it on their site and where? Would like to prepay it if I could.

it's 12.50 a day per person for the gratuity not to clean your room.many people share this tip.if. you feel this is excessive stay home

Hey Nowornever...I agree that you must be mistaken about the service charge. Most likely that was the daily gratuity charge per person. Your booking agent should have let you know to expect this room charge so it was not a surprise. It can usually be prepaid if you chose before sailing. Most all lines do this now as not everyone has been so generous with tipping in the past. Most of the crew get paid less than minimum wage and work like dogs. They depend heavily on tips. Many have families back in their home countries that they are supporting. $12-15 each day is not that much when you consider your cabin is being cleaned and your dining 3× each day.

The 12.50 is not alone for the cabin stewart, it will be shared with more people from the staff, waiters etc....

I'm pretty sure the 12.50 was the auto gratuity, as for the rest I've seen a lot of reviews on MSC saying the same. People have good cruises, but they don't think MSC is going to make it as US based line. We are planning on waiting for the SeaSide, purpose built for the US market, hopefully staffed for the same.

it's 12.50 per person per day for gratuity. did u have 3 people in ur room? you may have these removed at guest services if you feel it was not merited. at least that is what i have read on their website

how do you mean, charged 12,50 dollar when they cleaned the room. That mean 37,50 dollar a day for clean, that is something new, if it is true
