Review summary

My entire family took this cruise line Sept. 23rd out of Barcelona 2015. The ship was beautiful but that was the only part of it that was enjoyable. 90% of the staff was either rude, unfriendly, ignored you, or in 1 case, was racist. The staff acted annoyed to have to help you. The food was middle of the road. We have taken 4-5 cruises as a family over the last 15 years and always rave about the food and the servers at dinner and usually gain 10 pounds. We barely made it to half the set dinners, we did not enjoy our rude server, and some of us lost weight because the buffet was just a cooled off version of either the same stuff every night or were leftovers of dinners on the menu. And the servers in the buffet seemed annoyed to even have to take an order. We all were so disappointed in this cruise line that we will never use it again. My husband & I went to the cigar/smoking lounge the first 4 days and although not super friendly, the woman in there served us without issue and took our orders regularly. On the 5th night we went in with a friend who is an african american and she completely ignored us, giving us dirty looks. She went so far out of her way as to serve the tables on either side of us while completely ignoring us. All she would do was switch out the ashtray, multiple times in about 15 minutes which was almost to bring more attention to whatever she was trying to project on us. After that night she continued doing the same rudeness. She never helped us as she had in the beginning. It was very uncomfortable and very obvious to our friend.

READ THE REVIEWS ON THIS CRUISE LINE BEFORE SPENDING THE MONEY!!! We did not and it was a real bummer. :( Very disappointing.

The ship was beautiful. It was the staff that was horrible. Most of them at least. Our room attendant was the best staff member on the whole ship. A few others were pleasant too. The other 100's were not.

We sailed the Divina with our family this july. It was our best cruise ever. Sorry for You. To us the crew member were nice and friendly. Perhaps they are tired after a hot and long summer.....We will cruise MSC again, for sure!

The ports were indeed amazing! And I honestly thought a while about whether I wanted to do such a bad review or not (and once I started writing I was getting irritated all over again) but  it was not just my bad experience and I wanted to warn people. We had great experiences with other customers like us on the cruise and the common thread we bonded over was talk of how unfriendly and rude the staff was! lol! At least it made good conversation for making friends. :)

I sailed on two MSC ships, the Divina & the Poecia.  Also was on a tour/lunch on the Lyrica.  I never experienced any of what you mentioned but I sailed from Fort Laudedale to the Carribean.  Perhaps this was the difference.  How sad that your cruise went so poorly.  It was good to know that at least the ship was beautiful.  All their ships are.  Nice to know that you enjoyed the ports of call, too.

I have sailed on the Italian lines before. all of the help was rude, unless you were Italian. will never sail MSC or Costa again. I sail on on Royal, Carnival, Norwegian and Princess and have never had any problems.

We cruised with MSC Opera in 2013, and we were disappointment in their service and quality of food. I don't think we'll ever cruise with them in the future. The only thing we can say is that the excursion we took were the best. I'd rather stick with Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean. Never been on Norwegian but I'm told it's pretty nice.
