We experienced some difficulties during this cruise, we addressed the issues with supervisors. Mardi Gras is a large ship that holds over 6,000 people excluding the crew. There are going to be issues, but we enjoyed all of the ports and our stateroom. We will continue to cruise, but not with Carnival.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was easy and streamlined
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The main dining room service was slow and the food was substandard. Bonsai Teppanyaki was fun and delicious. Room service was fast and good. Big chicken was good, but Guy's burger joint was questionable. The Lido Marketplace was interesting.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Unfortunately, Serenity deck was closed most days due to high winds. The pools were full of kids, and the deck chairs were taken. We did sit out near the bar, and it was decent. High winds closed down Loft 19 for a few days, so we did not get to utilize this 'exclusive' space. The shows were just okay.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The stage shows were okay. The comedy club headliner, Happy was amazing, entertaining and funny!
Children's Programs
Did not travel with underage children
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
With the exception of Woralak (Bartender) and John (stateroom attendant), service was substandard, and slow.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Most areas were clean. The elevators were small and slow for the number of people on this cruise.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We loved the size of our cabin, the bathroom was spacious and the shower was amazing! The balcony was awesome, and spacious, but due to high winds for several days, we couldn't enjoy it! The bed was comfortable enough, and the temperature remained cold throughout our stay.
Ship tip
The Mardi Gras is a large ship, so be prepared to wait for everything.
