Mardi Gras is worth trying for its beauty and the number of entertainment and dining choices but we still prefer the more personal feel of the smaller ships.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was excellent. We arrived at our appointed time and walked almost without stopping through the checking process. We then had a fairly short wait in a designated area before boarding the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We only used the Main Dining room for breakfast a few times. Breakfast buffets were good, but a bit limited on choices. Lunch and dinner buffets were not very satisfying for us, both for variety and quality of food. We ate lunch several times at Chibang and it was always excellent. Highly recommended.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We enjoyed the forward pool on lido early in the morning. Later, it became too crowded.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We primarily went to the comedy shows, all of which were very enjoyable. While we enjoyed some of the musicians, we found them far less enjoyable than the group on our previous Mardi Gras cruise in Dec 21.
Children's Programs
No children.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We had excellent service from our room steward Clive, great service from Melanie and Pedro at the Tides bar and every other member of the service staff.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
This is a beautiful ship and every area we visited was clean and well-maintained. We weren’t fans of the layout, probablybecause it is quite different from other Carnival ships.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Cabin was clean and comfortable with adequate size. The balcony was larger than most and was the best part of the cabin. We didn’t like the fact that there was only one electrical outlet. It would have been nice to have one on the other side of the cabin as well.
Ship tip
Unless there’s aPressing reason to do so, don’t choose an assigned dining time because it limits your choices if you want to have dinner in other than the main dining room.
