Review summary

I have had the most fantastic time, seen beautiful places, made new friends, had some very relaxing days where I could do what I wanted, saw some Dolphins, gannets and puffins. It has been brilliant, I wished I could've stayed on longer. I would recommend it to anyone.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I ate most of my dinners in the Waldorf restaurant, food was delicious and service excellent. Two nights I ate in the new fusion, best curry I've ever had! Most breakfasts and lunches were in the bistro. Although often crowded I didn't mind eating outside watching the world go by. Good variety of delicious food. Also had a few cups of tea and coffee in the new cappuccinos cafe, very nice and served with a smile by gracious hist's.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was a variety of games, crafts, dancing, lectures, gym, choir, too many to count! I enjoyed taking part in some games and having a laugh. Did line dancing which is always good fun. I very much enjoyed the choir. The only problem was making a choosing between them. The hosts were fun and welcoming.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
There was a variety of entertainment from the big song and dance shows to smaller scale singers and musicians. One night I watched a magician who was good fun. Pianist was excellent, played beautifully.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent, as a solo traveller it can be very intimidating, but all the staff were friendly, professional, helpful and welcoming and very caring. They looked after me well. I have been on the ship before and some staff remembered me from previous cruises and treated me like a long lost friend. Waiters were brilliant, when I asked for decaf tea, they brought me more than enough. Cabin steward was very friendly and did a brilliant job. Guest services people were very friendly and looked after me well. Captain was also around a lot and very friendly.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Excellent, spotlessly clean, constantly being cleaned. Very impressed with the way door handles, stair rails etc anything people touch was kept hygienically clean. Very impressed with the compulsory sanitization of hands before people were allowed in eateries.

Ship tip

Magellan and Cruise and Maritime Voyages often get negative reviews. I have been with the five times and cannot fault them. Ignore negative reviews, go on Magellan and see for yourself.

Ports of call

Dublin, Ireland

I love Dublin. Did not do an excursion just visited the city. There is so much to see: the castle, college, Temple Bar, museums, Guinness Factory, Jameson's Factory, plus loads more

Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, Scotland

Did an excursion of a tour round the islands, it was nice to see the different areas. Best part was the Italian Chapel. It is beautiful

Bergen, Norway

I went on a walking tour of the old part of town Brygen which is fun, then up the funicular railway. Only problem that day was we were a little behind schedule and because of the amount of people there we had to go back down almost straight away. However as at that point it was chucking it down with heavy rain, it was a relief to get back to the lower level where it was warm and Sunny to dry off!

Olden, Norway

Beautiful place. Visited the Briksdal Glacier. Highly recommended. As it was sunny that day the sun shone though the waterfall creating a beautiful rainbow. The scenery was stunning.

Eidford

Again a beautiful town in the beautiful fjords. Had a walk by the river and on into the woods, the shade was perfect for a hot day.
