Review summary

First time on Royal Caribbean for me. Cruised with our toddlers, 2 1/2 and 18 mo. My parents came with us as well. We really had a great time, the staff was lovely, the boat is fun, and I think I could write a book on cruising with toddlers. šŸ˜‚

Embarkation

I think it would have been smooth, except after we did my daughterā€™s covid test, found out my sweet sweet husband had answered both our health questionnaires as positive for ā€œheadachesā€ā€¦which means we both had to be PCR tested. Well, mine came back invalid so had to repeat it. In all, we should have been on board by 12 at the latest, but we were in ā€œcovid jailā€ (as my husband called it) with hungry and sleepy 18 mo old and 2.5 year old until 1:30! Aaahhh! But, we got on eventually.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I was pleasantly surprised by the food. We were just on Holland America in November and I think this MDR food was better. We had most breakfasts and lunches in the windjammer and they were good. One dinner in windjammer was disappointing, which seemed weird to me, but I really enjoyed the food. The desserts were excellent (except the cookies, just avoid them).

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Splashaway Bay and the baby section there was our jam. Spent hours there every morning, the toddlers loved it. I do have to say that Iā€™m not sure what it would be like with a full ship, but weā€™re glad for the half full ship this time!

Entertainment

Only saw El Gaucho, loved it.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was so kind to our children, took time to talk to them, remember their names, give high fives, play with them. It was really special, we felt very taken care of. Based on the vibes Iā€™ve gotten on this app about children on cruises, I thought I was going to spend most of the time apologizing for our children just being children, but the staff seemed to enjoy having them on board. It was nice.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Needs a little TLC, but I thought it was a very nice, well laid out ship. I really enjoyed the promenade and being able to grab just a coffee in the morning at the cafe. Again, this was a pleasant surprise!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Kept so clean by Alen, our room steward. We actually had this room and the connecting room. Both promenade view. The kids loved looking out at the people below. Room is tight when you walk in, but the seating area feels pretty roomy.

Ship tip

If you go with young children, ask the waiters at dinner to bring their dinner first thing. And bring some buckets and shovels, etc, to play with at the beach and in the pool. Hours of fun for them, hours of relaxing (ish) for you!

Disembarkation

We did bag pick up and the whole thing (getting in line, getting bags, husband walking to the car at EZ cruise parking), to heading home, to about 35 minutes.
