Review summary

We had a medical emergency which required returning to Cozumel, the closest port, to allow for emergency medical services. Captain James announced the change. Kept us all informed, and made sure everything was as it should be. We were only 2 hours late returning to Galveston, even after the 7 hour side trip back to Cozumel in the late evening on day 6. Good news, we were told the patient was doing well and would be able to go home soon!

First time sailing from Galveston. Very easy embarkation!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5

Sabor

1 out of 5

Let me preface this comment. I'm from Texas. Mexican, TexMex, Latin American cuisines are abundant here.Sabor was nothing close to Mexican or Latin cuisine. It was stupidly expensive for what you received. The ONLY decent thing was the guacamole. Seriously. The orders were wrong. The service was slow. The food did not taste good at all. Worst food on the ship.

Service and Staff

The entire crew was always cheerful and smiling! Nothing was left undone!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout was easy to follow. So many places to find a quiet moment or be in the middle of the action! Movies on Deck were a lot of fun! A great number of pool loungers always available. The crew was constantly cleaning. Never went without someone offering assistance.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The bed was a bit firmer than I like, but the pillows were fabulous. The layout was pleasant. Loved the size of the balcony.

Ports of call

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Beautiful port! Margaritaville is right at the port. Great drinks, good food! Nice people. Had a great view from the balcony onboard!

George Town, Grand Cayman

What can you say, but Paradise! Unfortunately, there were NINE ships in port that day. It was crazy crowded everywhere! Port Royal Beach Club was fantastic! Soft sand, gorgeous water, great food!

Disembarkation

Definitely will sail from this port again!

Although I have not eaten at Sabor, I am also a native Texan and would never expect a cruise ship to have as great Tex-Mex as is available at many Tex-Mex restaurants. Otherwise we loved this ship.

So glad you enjoyed

He was the captain on our cruise on that ship in Sept 2019. I chatted with him a few times. A very pleasant fellow. You were in good hands.

Glad you enjoyed it and the person with the medical emergency is going to be ok. This is an example of why a good travel insurance policy with medical and medical evacuation coverage is important. At least 1/2 of the cruises I have taken have had at least one person taken off in an ambulance in at least one port, many times one at each port. A medical issue or accident requiring evacuation can cost $ 50,000+ and may not be covered by your regular health insurance.
