Review summary

We have more than 10 cruises in our past.  All have been either on Royal Caribbean or on Celebrity Cruise Lines.  This was our first cruise in perhaps four years and we found things quite different.  Gone are the extra little touches.  There are no toiletries nor are there chocolates on the bed at night.  Only two nights did we get greeted with a cute little towel animal in our room and on none of the nights did we experience any banter from the dining room wait staff.  The food which we have always found to be especially flavorful, hot and satisfying was flat, warm and the steaks, while they were not hard to chew, were quite a struggle to cut.  We were approached daily at breakfast with reduced rate offers for the specialty dining rooms.  The entertainment was top notch.  The first night none of the ladies' room toilets in the public restroom flushed.  The third night, a formal night, a pipe burst in the main dining room.  We were very disappointed to see that dining room attire requirements have been loosened and that jeans are permitted as are other types of very casual clothes.  In past cruises, if you did not care to dress for dinner, you went upstairs to the lounge restaurant to eat dinner.  The cabin attendant did keep our room tended to and, per our request, saw that we had ice in our ice bucket each day.  We almost never saw him but he got his job done beautifully.

Ship tip

Try the Solarium for lunch. Much less crowded and much quieter. Food choices are excellent. Don't skip the fresh squeezed oj for breakfast. It's worth the extra couple of bucks!!
