EXCELLENT Crusie

Sail Date: March 24, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

First cruise with Princess . . we'll definitely be back! The Grand Princess was the perfect size ship. Embarkation was easy. Our stateroom was always kept up. Food was good - dining room food options weren't to my taste, but I'm certain others enjoyed them. Deck space was plentiful. Ports of call were fantastic. Princess Cays is absolutely gorgeous, Curacao was neat to see and Aruba was fun!

Pros: The ports

Cons: Dining room options

Recommends Grand Princess? Yes!

Food and Dining
Disappointed we weren't given more information regarding formal nights. On other cruise lines formal is optional where you can still dine in the dining room. Princess is different in that you must be dressed formally to dine in the dining room. Not only once on a 7-day cruise, but twice.
Ship Quality
Yes - she's an older ship and in certain areas you can see her age, however, overall she's beautiful and kept up well.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had an inside cabin with plenty of room. The beds are a bit hard, but nothing to ruin our vacation.
Service and Staff
Dining room staff were so friendly. Horizon's staff works so hard yet always with a smile. Love how they bring you juice & coffee to your table for breakfast. Probably the most un-friendly person we encountered was an Assistant Cruise Director who was from the U.S. (probably why she wasn't as friendly).
Entertainment
Loved how the Princess Singers & Dancers performed so many times. The 4-lead singers/dancers weren't anything spectacular but the rest of the dancers made up for it. The "So You Wanna Dance" night needed some work. It appeared as though it was the first time they had done it and needs some more practice.
