This was a cruise of firsts! It was our first time on Golden Princess, our first time in a suite (hence, the title), and our first try at a two-day 'taster' cruise. And we thoroughly enjoyed every moment!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The best embarkation yet! Very smooth and speedy so that we were onboard by 11 am.

Food and Dining
5 out of 5
All our dining experiences were fabulous! The Donatello MDR menus were excellent, with our favourite being the twice baked goat cheese soufflé. The breakfast in Sabatini’s was as good as reputed to be, and helped make the suite experience even more enjoyable. We ate twice at the Horizon buffet and found the food there was as good as always.
Sabatini's
5 out of 5
The breakfast at Sabatini’s was part of the suite deal, and was a wonderful experience! Freshly brewed coffee with real milk, freshly squeezed orange juice, Bircher muesli, poached eggs on toast, French brioche and cinnamon apples—the food and service was just exceptional. This really lived up to the hype we had read before the cruise.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We visited the gym, had a delightful time in Skywalkers, and took in some entertainment in the Piazza.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We didn’t have time for any stage shows, but the welcoming music on embarkation day, and at other times in the Piazza was truly relaxing. We enjoyed watching a movie at MUTS as well.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The interaction with staff was limited due to the short sailing time, but our stateroom steward, Jeffery, was friendly and welcoming and the waitstaff in Sabatini’s were a delight with good service and humour combined.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We were very impressed with the layout, decor, and cleanliness of the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom

This was our first taste of a suite, and we were delighted with it. The extra space was great, the balcony recliners were comfortable, and the bathtub with jets was well used!
We spent a few days in Melbourne prior to the cruise. The highlight for us was a visit to St Kilda breakwater to see the fairy penguins close up—a memorable wildlife experience, and one just minutes from the city centre. Some other highlights included the tram ride around the city centre, walking the CBD and seeing places such as the Hopetoun Restaurant (a must do place for morning or afternoon tea, at the very least!).
Disembarkation was very smooth, despite having to look after our own suitcases due to this being a short cruise. We were off the ship by 9 am and headed to the airport.
